On my workdesk this week are 5 'Tattered Hearts' for a swap. The swap was to make 5 hearts from different materials- all looking somehow distressed. I chose, card, fabric, acetate, wood and metal for my materials.
This is the card heart and I added torn paper and paper curls for the distressing. All hearts were to be under 3inches in size.
This is the material heart. I added a few sewn 'darns' and added green and pearl pins to make it into a pin cushion.
This is my 'Heart of glass' Made from 2 acetate heart shapes, and punched around the edge with small holes. I threaded ribbon three quarters of the way round the edge and then filled with crumpled florist clear wrapping and added small clear beads. This actually looks like ice, but hasn't photographed very well.
This is my wooden heart, made from two layers of lollypop sticks, and distressed with acrylic paints. I added one of my favourite rubber stamp images to the front.
This is my metal heart. Made from embossed metal, I added metal ivy leaves and chain etc., and used modelling paste to create rust. The metal heart is formed over several layers of graduated foam heart shapes.
Well that's me this week, now over to Julia's place at http://sta,ping-ground.blogspot.co.uk/ to see what everyone has been doing this week. Why not join us over there.
